I located a program & installed it today, while updating the latest version of the tools used for this website. The new program is a simple, but powerful little calendar of events that will help enable us to keep tract of important dates & times of future happenings concerning the Church and Members. The calendar isn’t meant to be clicked on to read more about the event. It simply shows the date, time, and location when different from the main Church here at Bethlehem. When you place your mouse over the date, it will show what’s happening for that date. The only days filled in so far are the ones for the month of April, that I used the last weeks menu from. Hopefully this will be a really helpful tool to keep members more informed of upcoming events when they’re logged onto their computers from now on.

Mike McNamara has been the minister here at Bethlehem Church of Christ for almost a year now. I met Mike this morning and took the photo to the left in the evening time. Most of the Church Members were over in Edenton, NC at one of our sister Church of Christ specials. We discussed some of the additions to this site earlier today and again this evening. We both look forward to having the site grow into a more useful home on the web.
Below is an email I received the day I posted it. I thought it was worth sharing here, because it helps people to see why Church is so important. Jerry and I have been members here for over eight years now, but he’s been in attendance much more than me. These last couple of years have estranged Jerry’s attendance due to the work he’s involved in now *he drives an 18-wheeler over the road, and isn’t in town very often now*. My time has been divided between Va with my grandchildren and here in Hertford, but I plan on being a lot more active with the Church and attending more often.

While you are visiting in our area, we would love for you to come and fellowship with us on the Lord’s Day. We invite you to a warm and Christ-centered worship service.
We are in the community to serve. We care about the physical, mental, and spiritual needs of people. We care because He cared and taught His people to care. (Matt. 25:35-45)

A Church goer wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper
and complained that it made no sense to go to church every
Sunday.(or Saturday) “I’ve gone for 30 years now,” he wrote,
“and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 sermons
But for the life of me, I can’t remember a single one of
them. So, I think I’m wasting my time and the pastors are
wasting theirs by giving sermons at all”
This started a real controversy in the “Letters to the
Editor” column, much to the delight of the editor. It went
on for weeks until someone wrote this clincher:
“I’ve been married for 30 years now. In that time my wife
has cooked some 32,000 meals But, for the life of me, I
cannot recall the entire menu for a single one of those
meals. But I do know this.. They all nourished me and gave
me the strength I needed to do my work. If my wife had not
given me these meals, I would be physically dead today.
Likewise, if I had not gone to church for nourishment, I
would be spiritually dead today!” When you are DOWN to
nothing…. God is UP to something! Faith sees the
invisible, believes the incredible and receives the
impossible! Thank God for our physical AND our spiritual
nourishment!

Phillip N. Alligood, the Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds at Roanoke Bible College, had been the senior minister at Bethlehem between 1997 to 2007. In addition to his extensive visitation in homes and preaching responsibilities, he has contributed significantly during the recent expansion of the physical facilities.
His background at Roanoke Bible College uniquely prepared him to lead the congregation at Bethlehem during the construction of the new building, housing an auditorium, additional classrooms, office space, and a spacious kitchen.
The right photo shows Phillip Alligood with his wife Ora-Jane.
